The Basic Conditions of Employment Act, no. 75 of 1997, determines in section 32(3)(a) that employers must pay employees’ salaries/wages within seven days of the period for which the salaries/wages are payable. Thus the employer is given a grace period of seven days. One may initiate a Grievance process if no payment is received after 7 days. We may assist you with the resolution of the dispute through negotiations with the employer. Where need be litigation may be pursued via the CCMA or the Labour Court where applicable.
